Kung Fu Hot Pot Information

Walking into Kung Fu Hot Pot at Kung Fu Hot Pot feels like stepping into a lively, no-frills spot where the focus is clearly on the food rather than flashy decor. The location on Lyndale Avenue puts it right in the middle of a busy Minneapolis neighborhood, making it a convenient stop whether you’re meeting friends or just craving something warm and interactive on a cold Minnesota evening.

The menu leans heavily into traditional Chinese hot pot, with a build-your-own approach that lets you customize everything from broth to dipping sauces. The broth options are where things really start to shine. The spicy Sichuan base delivers that signature numbing heat from Sichuan peppercorns, while the milder options like mushroom or bone broth balance things out if you’re not in the mood for intense spice. It’s clear they’ve put effort into getting these flavors right, and it shows with every simmering pot brought to the table.

What stands out most is the variety of ingredients. Thinly sliced beef, lamb, shrimp, fish balls, tofu, and an assortment of fresh vegetables give you plenty to work with. The meat quality is solid for the price point, and portions are generous enough to share without feeling shortchanged. The self-serve sauce bar is another highlight, letting you mix everything from sesame paste to garlic, chili oil, and soy sauce into your own perfect blend.

Service here is casual but attentive. Staff are quick to explain how the hot pot process works if you’re new, which makes a difference because the experience can feel a bit overwhelming at first. During a recent visit, drinks were refilled promptly and empty plates cleared without needing to flag anyone down, which kept the table from getting cluttered as the meal went on.

The atmosphere is lively, sometimes bordering on noisy during peak hours, but that’s part of the charm. It’s the kind of place where groups gather, laughter mixes with the bubbling of broths, and meals stretch longer than planned. Based on local reviews and consistent foot traffic, it’s clear this spot has built a loyal following in the area.

While it may not offer the polished ambiance of upscale dining, Kung Fu Hot Pot delivers where it counts: flavorful broths, a wide-ranging menu, and an experience that feels both communal and satisfying.

What People's Say About Place

Great atmosphere and friendly workers. We were the only ones there at the time so we had free rein. Options were great. We got all you can eat hot pot which came with sushi too. My daughter didn't know how to eat the crawfish or shrimp and the worker came over to show her. Absolutely awesome of them. Totally weird but the toilet paper was so nice. Anyways, it's nice place to go.

I'm a huge fan of hot pot, and Kung Fu Hot Pot is definitely one of my favorites! They have such a great variety of veggies, meats, sauces, and so much more! The unlimited sushi option is very delicious. The dumplings are hands down my favorite part! It's always so much fun to cook your own meal. The staff is super friendly, and I always look forward to coming here!

The meat quality was great. Wished there were more meats that were seasoned or marinated but overall, the meat quality is very good. Very well worth the money for AYCE. The veggies were clean. The seafood was great. The broth was pretty good. Very flavorful for the spicy broth. We also got the non spicy broth and it wasn't bad but if you want a more flavorful experience, definitely do the spicy broth. The only downside was the service. The employees were very nice. When we arrived on a Saturday afternoon, around 4pm, it was only the 2 of us. The employees were nice and welcoming but did not come back to check on us after we were settled and eating. We had to go to them and ask for more water and napkins. After that, then they started to check up but we were on the end of our stay. Parking. We had to park at the parking lot behind the Jungle Theatre. Walking there wasn't bad but there isn't parking around. But there are some questionable people walking around but they won't do anything. Overall, a solid spot for AYCE hot pot. Would highly recommend coming here if you want hot pot in this area.

BEST HOT POT IN MINNEAPOLIS AND WITH A DISCOUNT!!! I went to other places in the city and nothing compares! The broth/ food taste AMAZING! But the best part is the service. Ian (our server) was super kind! He had us roll dice to get a discount and I got 10% off! Hui (the owner) is also so kind and gifted us all good luck bracelets! If I wasn’t moving I would come here all the time! Will definitely come back when I visit again!

We went in during lunch for their ayce BBQ and hot pot. The meat options were still plentiful when it came to chicken, pork, and seafood. There were only 2 beef options to choose from, which were fewer options from the last time I went there. Their spicy beef tallow and the original soup broth base. They were delicious. The server constantly checked in with us for refills and cleared the table of used plates. Plates can stack up pretty quickly when used to grab meat and vegetables from the fridge. The BBQ meat was overcooked and dried when it came out from the kitchen. Everything was super salty. I did not enjoy the seasoning or texture of anything that came. We had chicken wings, pork skewers, beef skewers, mushroom, I would not recommend getting BBQ at all. Bonus: they still have the dice game and each of us rolled a straight sequence and got 20% off our tab!

Love this place! It’s exactly what you expect and want in a hot pot place. The sauce bar has been upgraded and has everything you could want for sauce making. The beef they had was high quality and not too chewy. If you enjoy spice they have an amazing spicy broth, but if you’re a non spice person their tomato base is just as good if not better. The one downside is when I went they didn’t have pork which I thought was odd.

This place is such a gem! So happy to see a hot pot place in uptown we needed it! The broths are deliciously seasoned. There’s a good selection of meats and veggies. The biggest thing we love about this place is that it’s buffet style, you get to choose the amount of each meat etc. I really love it because there’s less waste! The server was super kind and always checking in. Edit: I came in for my second time because we we’re craving this so much. And I was given a beautiful bracelet by the waitress. Made my day. Absolutely love this place.

All you can eat hot pot and sushi for only $30 at dinner is a pretty great deal. Hot pot bases were good, especially the spicy one. Selection of items to cook was not bad. Seafood looked pretty fresh and scallops were good. The beef was okay, but the meat wasn’t the freshest for some options but not to the point of smelling or anything. Good noodle and veggie items. Only complaint was wish there was better dessert options as there were just grapes and watermelons. The sushi was very good. We were very surprised that all you can eat sushi was included and will order more next time. Definitely recommend for a cheap AYCE option in South Minneapolis
